Delaware State Police have arrested 61-year-old Glenn Wilson, of Smyrna, Delaware, for felony DUI following a single-vehicle crash yesterday evening in Smyrna.

On June 28, 2023, at approximately 8:58 p.m., a trooper responded to the intersection of Wheatleys Pond Road and Mt Friendship Road for a reported vehicle that was observed in a ditch. When the trooper arrived on the scene, a Chevrolet Equinox was observed, and it appeared to have struck the ditch as it had damage to its front bumper. Contact was made with Glenn Wilson, who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle. The trooper immediately smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Wilson’s breath and observed other signs of impairment. The crash investigation revealed that Wilson was traveling northbound on Mt Friendship Road when he disregarded the stop sign at the intersection, causing his front bumper to strike a ditch on Wheatleys Pond Road. Wilson was subsequently taken into custody after a DUI investigation. A computer check showed that he had three prior convictions for DUI.

Wilson was transported back to Troop 9, where he was charged with 4th Offense DUI (felony) and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign (violation). He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Howard R Young Correctional Institution on a $6001 secured bond.
