Troopers Arrest Man on Drug Dealing Charges

Delaware State Police have arrested John Romano, 45, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for drug offenses following a traffic stop yesterday morning.

On May 20, 2023, at approximately 9:32 a.m., a trooper on patrol was traveling southbound on Dairy Farm Road just south of Lewes-Georgetown Highway behind a Subaru Crosstrek. The trooper observed the Subaru cross the solid double-yellow line on the roadway to pass slower-moving vehicles on the left. The trooper activated his emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. When contact was made with the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, John Romano, the trooper smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The trooper inquired about the odor of marijuana coming from the Subaru. At that time, Romano produced a large quantity of cannabis oil. As Romano was showing the containers of cannabis oil, the trooper observed numerous large vacuum-sealed clear plastic bags containing large amounts of what appeared to be marijuana inside the vehicle’s passenger compartment. The trooper observed this amount of marijuana to be greater than the personal use quantity.

Romano was taken into custody without incident. An inventory search of Romano’s vehicle revealed that he was in possession of approximately 175 grams of marijuana, 6.7 grams of hash oil, 23.3 grams of cannabis oil, 13.3 grams of cannabis edibles, and 7.19 grams of cocaine.
