The Delaware State Police have arrested 37-year-old Wilfri Moreno-Garcia of Newark, Delaware on drug dealing charges following a car stop last night in Wilmington.
During the month of January 2023, troopers were informed that a man driving a silver Ford Escape with a Delaware temporary tag had been selling cocaine to buyers along the Kirkwood Highway corridor in Wilmington. Last night, troopers learned that this same person was actively selling drugs in the area of Kirkwood Highway and Newport Gap Pike from his car. At approximately 8:40 p.m., troopers located the silver Ford Escape with a Delaware temporary tag and made contact with the driver, identified as Wilfri Moreno-Garcia. Moreno-Garcia attempted to hide something in his pocket and physically resisted arrest, but he was taken into custody at the scene a short time later. A search of Moreno-Garcia led to the discovery of approximately 14.75 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 2.8 grams of powder cocaine.
Moreno-Garcia was taken to Troop 6, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
- Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Resisting Arrest
Moreno-Garcia was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $26,000 cash bond.
