The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Kevin Hawker of New Castle, DE after he impersonated a police officer and attempted to conduct motor vehicle stops in the New Castle area.
On March 28, 2023, at approximately 1:35 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the area of southbound Route 1 in the area of Route 273 for a report of a 2020 Hyundai Elantra with Delaware temporary registration utilizing red and blue emergency lights and attempting to pull vehicles over. A short time later at approximately 1:51 p.m., it was reported the same vehicle pulled a motorist over on northbound School Bell Road near Bear Christina Road. With the assistance of the New Castle County Police Department, a traffic stop was initiated, and the operator identified as Kevin Hawker was taken into custody. A subsequent search of his vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded Taurus .22 caliber handgun.
