The University of Delaware athletics’ department will travel around the state’s three counties showcasing UD athletics.
The University of Delaware Athletic Department’s fourth-annual 302 Tour will kick-off on June 11 and continue through June 13. The event allows UD staff, coaches and athletes to interact with Blue Hen fans across Delaware’s three counties across the span of three days.
The tour will start in New Castle County on June 11. The traveling party will participate in community service activities in Wilmington and then make their way to Fort Delaware. The first day of the tour will conclude with a free field day and pool party event at UD’s campus which fans can attend after registering.
The second day of the tour will tackle locations in Sussex and Kent counties. The Blue Hens’ day will start with a visit to Bayhealth Hospital and lunch at the Buffalo Wild Wings on South Bay road in Dover, Delaware. The next stop on the route is Killen’s Pond. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public after registering. There will be nature walks, water activities and other outdoor experiences to take advantage of while hanging out with UD athletes and coaches.
The day concludes with a trip to the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk where fans can see the Blue Hens at Funland starting at 7:30 p.m. There is no registration needed.
The final day of the tour will start with the Chicken Chase 5K and Mile Walk at The Starboard in Dewey Beach on June 13. The run begins at 7:30 a.m. and registration for the event is still open and will stay open until 7:25 a.m. on June 13, according to the race website.
The traveling party will continue their day at the beach until 5:00 p.m. when the 302 Tour Reception event begins. The final event of the trip is free and open to the public — after registering — welcoming fans to Grain on the Rocks in Lewes, Delaware, to meet some of UD’s student-athletes and coaches while enjoying food and live music.
