On September 19, 2022, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit charged Kevin Shorter, of Georgetown, with Murder in the First Degree after Paul McCarter, of Georgetown, succumbed to his injuries on September 13, 2022. Kevin was arraigned on the upgraded charge at Justice of the Peace Court #2. Kevin, who was held on a $1,060,000 cash bond, remains in the custody of the Department of Correction at Sussex Correctional Institute.
