Due to the air quality alert and health concerns, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics scheduled for June 8, 2023, has been cancelled. The ceremony at Legislative Hall has been moved indoors into the lobby of the building. This will not be a formal ceremony, but instead will be an opportunity for Special Olympics Delaware, law enforcement, and legislators to reaffirm their existing partnerships, which allows them to support the inclusion of people with disabilities not only in sports, but throughout the community.
Members of the media will have the opportunity to take photographs and videos and conduct interviews beginning in the lobby at 1:30 p.m. today.
The Opening Ceremonies are still scheduled to be held tomorrow at 4:15 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center at the University of Delaware.
Although the formal ceremony will not take place today, we are still excited to still be able to take advantage of the opportunity of having all three significant entities together to celebrate the sport, spirit, and splendor of the Torch Run and the 2023 Summer Games.
