Delaware State Police arrested 25-year-old Trevon Majette, of Chesapeake, Virginia, for weapon and drug offenses following a traffic stop that occurred in New Castle Monday evening.
On October 23, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a trooper on patrol was traveling northbound on Route 1 in the area of Wrangle Hill Road next to a white Ford Edge. The trooper initiated a traffic stop after observing the driver of the Ford using a cell phone while holding it in his right hand. Upon making contact with the driver and sole occupant, identified as Trevon Majette, the trooper smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the car. A DSP Narcotics Canine scanned the Ford and positively alerted to the presence of narcotics. A search of the car led to the discovery of a concealed handgun loaded with an extended magazine, several rounds of ammunition, approximately 3.49 grams of marijuana, and $13,500 in suspected drug dealing proceeds (pictured below).
Majette was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited who Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Driving a Motor Vehicle on any Highway While Using an Electronic Communication Device
Majette was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $3,003 unsecured bond.
