Troopers Arrest Wilmington Man for Felony Drug Offenses Following Traffic Stop on I-95

Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Demetre Dale of Wilmington, Delaware, for felony drug offenses following a traffic stop on I-95 in Newark on Monday afternoon.

On March 18, 2024, at approximately 12:06 p.m., a trooper on patrol on I-95 northbound in the area of State Route 7 in Newark, observed a dark grey Honda Accord with Delaware registration traveling over 90 MPH in an area with a posted speed limit of 65 MPH. As the trooper traveled behind the Honda, he observed it commit several additional traffic violations as it continued northbound on I-95. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver of the Honda, identified as Demetre Dale. A computer inquiry of Dale’s license revealed he had a capias for his arrest issued by the Newark Alderman’s Court 40. Dale was subsequently taken into custody without incident. A search of Dale’s person led to the discovery of $655 in suspected drug dealing proceeds, and a plastic bag containing the following:

  • Approximately 0.56 grams of heroin packaged in 80 plastic baggies
  • Approximately 10.8 grams of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 12 doses of suspected MDMA in a clear plastic tube

The trooper then searched the Honda and recovered a digital scale from the center console. Dale was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with the offenses listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $46,650 secured bond.
