UPDATE – Arrest Made/Victim Identified In Capital Green Murder

**UPDATED** 05/26/2024 – The Dover Police Department has arrested William Mills, 59, of Dover for the murder of Jonair Pollard, 29, of Dover, who died as a result of the shooting yesterday, May 25th, in Capital Green. 

Detectives identified Mills as the person responsible for the shooting and on May 26th, members of the Dover Police Department’s Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant in the 400 East Wind Drive Dover, DE. Mills was taken into custody without incident at the residence and he was transported to Dover Police Department to be processed and arraigned.

Mills was committed to SCI on $250,000 cash bail on the following charges:
-Murder First Degree
-Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
-Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited

Mills is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Narrative: The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Dover man Saturday evening. The investigation began at 4:22 p.m., when Dover Police Department was called for a shooting in the area of New Castle Avenue and East Water Street. Officers responded and located the victim, who had sustained a gun shot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of his injuries. The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notifications.

Detectives are actively working to develop a suspect description and motive for the homicide. Anyone with information is urged to contact Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7130.
