The Junior Board of ChristianaCare has pledged a $1 million donation to support the ongoing expansion of ChristianaCare’s Middletown campus, with funding aimed at enhancing patient care and technology.
The contribution was recognized April 21 during a construction milestone event in which members of the Junior Board, along with ChristianaCare leaders and caregivers, signed the final steel beam before it was placed on the structure.
According to ChristianaCare, the funding will be used to support new technologies at the ChristianaCare Health Center at Middletown, including digital tools designed to improve patient experience, education and coordination of care.
“The ChristianaCare Health Center at Middletown represents more than a new facility — it reflects our promise to the Middletown community,” said Pauline Corso, president of Ambulatory Network Continuity and Growth at ChristianaCare.
“Thanks to the generosity of the Junior Board, we can continue building care that is accessible, compassionate and designed for the future — right here in Middletown.”
Planned features include interactive, TV-based digital whiteboards that allow patients to view personalized health information, connect with care teams and communicate with family members remotely. Officials said the technology is intended to support patient engagement and improve continuity of care.
“The Junior Board of ChristianaCare, Inc., is proud to support the Middletown expansion,” said Diane Thomas and Claudine Richardson, co-presidents of the Junior Board of ChristianaCare, Inc.
“The Junior Board continues to lead the way in helping our Delaware neighbors achieve their best health at ChristianaCare.”
ChristianaCare broke ground on the multi-phase Middletown campus as part of an effort to expand access to health care services in one of Delaware’s fastest-growing areas. The facility, expected to open in 2027, will include primary and specialty care, along with services such as women’s health, behavioral health, oncology, cardiovascular care, pediatrics, neurology and diagnostic testing.
The Junior Board of ChristianaCare has contributed more than $14 million over its history to support patient care, education and innovation across the health system.
