In response to growing concerns about rising energy costs, Delmarva Power announced Tuesday a new $4.5 million Customer Relief Fund aimed at supporting limited- and moderate-income customers in Delaware.

“Delmarva Power has deep community roots, and we’re committed to standing by our customers and helping them stay connected to the essential energy service we provide,” said Tyler Anthony, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, which includes Delmarva Power. “The Customer Relief Fund offers immediate assistance with higher energy bills as we continue to work on long-term solutions with Delaware Governor Meyer, the Delaware General Assembly and local officials.”

Starting in July, eligible customers struggling to pay their energy bills may qualify for one-time grants of up to $300.

The initiative, funded by a donation from Delmarva Power’s parent company, Exelon, was developed in partnership with the state.

The relief fund comes at a time when energy supply constraints are expected to drive further increases in customer bills.

How to lower bill

To qualify, customers must be actively receiving service from Delmarva Power in Delaware and meet certain income and arrears criteria.

Low-income customers must already be eligible for state or federal energy assistance programs and owe at least $250 for more than 60 days.

Moderate-income customers may also qualify based on income guidelines.

Approved grant amounts will be directly credited to customer accounts.

This is a one-time program and supplements Delmarva Power’s existing bill support services, including payment plans, budget billing, energy efficiency tips, and assistance tools available here.
