Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and Big Chill Beach Club are partnering to host a World Ocean Day beach cleanup and fundraising event on Monday, June 8, at Delaware Seashore State Park.
The cleanup is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. and will focus on removing trash from the beach and surrounding park areas as part of ongoing conservation efforts along Delaware’s coastline.
Organizers said volunteers will receive all necessary cleanup supplies, including bags, buckets, grabbers and gloves. Check-in for participants will take place at Big Chill Beach Club.
Following the cleanup, Big Chill Beach Club will host a “Dine & Donate” fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with 15% of food and beverage sales benefiting the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and its environmental programs.
“We’re excited to partner with the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays to celebrate World Ocean Day with a Beach Cleanup and Dine & Donate event at Big Chill Beach Club,” organizers said in a statement.
The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays also encouraged residents to participate in the annual event.
“Join us on Monday, June 8th, for a cleanup from 10-11 am as we help protect our coastline by removing trash from the beach and surrounding Delaware Seashore State Park,” the organization said.
World Ocean Day is observed internationally each year to promote ocean conservation and environmental awareness.
