Second Street Players announced that auditions are planned for their production of “Peter Pan and Wendy” on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 6 PM and on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 5 PM. All auditions will be held at the Riverfront Theatre, 2 South Walnut Street in Milford.
“This play is directed by Rachel Loper and John H. Hulse,” Tracy Dissinger, President of Second Street Players said. “It is adapted from by Doug Rand from the J.M. Barrie classic. These are open auditions for young people aged seven and up with adults welcome to audition as well.”
Auditioners should be ready to tell a one minute version of a funny familiar fairy tale, story or experience. Dress comfortably and ready to move and play as there may be group theater games.
“This show is performed by a large cast of young, as well as young at heart, people from the ages of 7 through 77 plus,” Dissinger said. “Preference may be given to those who are available for the entire rehearsal period which will begin January 13. All cast members must be available for technical rehearsals scheduled for March 16 through 27 and all performances, planned for March 28, 29 and 30.”
“Peter Pan and Wendy” will allow audiences to rediscover the loopy fun of the J.M. Barrie novel, but will also bring to light some of the dark corners of the story. The story unfolds as Peter Pan flies into the nursery of the Darling home, leading big sister Wendy to follow her maternal instincts as well as her love of adventure.
“The story takes Wendy and her little brothers to Neverland where Wendy soon takes over the care of the Lost Boys,” Dissinger said. “It is not long before the Darling children are in the middle of Peter’s battle with Captain Hook and his pirate crew. The excitement leads the children to wonder if they ever want to return home.”
The play is produced through special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Those unable to attend the audition but interested in auditioning as well as those looking for more information can contact the directors Rachel Loper at 302-393-6870 or John Hulse at 302-245-4147.
