GEORGETOWN — Bayhealth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kyle Benoit shared exciting developments and future plans for Bayhealth during the Georgetown Chamber Economic Development Luncheon held at the Georgetown Library last week.
Speaking to a room of community leaders, business owners, and stakeholders, Benoit emphasized Bayhealth’s continued investment in healthcare services and infrastructure across central and southern Delaware. The luncheon was hosted in partnership with the Bayhealth Foundation.
“Bayhealth is proud to be a driving force in both healthcare excellence and economic growth in our community,” Benoit said. “These projects are not only investments in our facilities, but in the health, well-being, and future of the people we serve.”

Reflecting on Milestones
Benoit highlighted the recent six-year anniversary of Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus, noting the facility’s growth since its opening. The hospital has expanded inpatient capacity from 128 to 157 beds, including five new labor and delivery beds, meeting increased demand for maternity services in the region.
In October 2024, the Sussex Campus welcomed a significant addition with the opening of PAM Health Rehabilitation’s new standalone hospital, providing enhanced rehabilitation services directly on campus.
New Services and Facilities
The luncheon also spotlighted Bayhealth Total Care in Milton, a newer facility designed to bridge the gap between urgent care and emergency services. Benoit reported the expansion of services at this location, including on-site lab testing, imaging, and patient care offices to improve access and convenience for local residents.
Looking ahead, Bayhealth is preparing to launch several major projects at the Sussex Campus:
Bayhealth Childcare Center – Providing on-site childcare for team members.
New Medical Office Building – To support the growth of outpatient and specialty services.
Advanced Interventional Suite – Featuring four labs and 16 pre- and post-procedure care bays, designed for minimally invasive procedures in radiology, interventional neurology, electrophysiology, and cardiac catheterization.
These upgrades, Benoit explained, will enhance care delivery while contributing to the region’s economic vitality by creating jobs and supporting the local workforce.
Supporting Economic Growth
The Georgetown Economic Development Luncheon is a recurring event aimed at fostering collaboration among leaders in business, healthcare, and government. Bayhealth’s participation underscores the organization’s role not only as a healthcare provider but also as a key player in regional development.
