DOVER — Bayhealth recently welcomed Dr. Patrick Elliott, DO, FACS, a board-certified general surgeon specializing in both general and acute care surgery. Dr. Elliott brings extensive experience in treating critically ill or injured patients and performs a wide range of procedures, including hernia repairs, gallbladder surgeries, and emergency abdominal operations.
Bayhealth Expanding Surgical Services in Delaware
Dr. Elliott joins the Bayhealth General Surgery practice in Dover, which also supports patients at Bayhealth’s Sussex Campus in Milford. The practice is part of the Bayhealth Medical Group, a network of skilled physicians, advanced practice clinicians, and care teams operating across Delaware.

Education and Military Service
Dr. Elliott earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received multiple scholarships and the Galen S. Young, Sr. Award for Excellence in Surgery. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
His career also includes distinguished service in the U.S. Army. He was a part of the 101st Airborne Division, held the position of chief of general surgery at Blanchfield Army Medical Center, and was deployed as a battalion surgeon with the 18th Airborne Corps/82nd Airborne Division in Sinai, Egypt.
Experience in Civilian Surgical Practice
Following his military service, Dr. Elliott continued his work in both general and trauma surgery. He has held key positions at several Pennsylvania-based medical centers, including:
Crozer Chester Medical Center – General and trauma surgeon
Aria-Jefferson Health Torresdale Hospital – On-call trauma surgeon
Brinton Lake Ambulatory Surgery Center – President
Taylor Hospital – Surgery site director and chief of surgery
