Colby Reeder, brother of Troy Reeder who is a member of the Minnesoate Vikings could join his brother as an NFL football Player. Colby (16) would also be the third active Salesiaum alum in the NFL with his brother Troy (14) and Minnesota Viking teammate Brian O’Neill (14). Colby earned an invite to the New Orleans Saints rookie camp with a chance to earn himself a spot on their 53 man roster.

Colby started his college career at the University Delaware where he was a four year contributor.  Reeder played in 35 games for the Blue Hens as he amassed 173 total tackles, 86 solo and 87 assisted. He added 22 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and 4 interceptions. He was named the ECAC All-East Defensive Rookie of the Year and CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year. Then was Selected to the 2021 Fall CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and All-CAA Third Team

In 2022 as a graduate Colby only had 10 days to choose where he was going to select to play for and  decide to go play for the Iowa state Cyclones. Reeder made 8 starts, missing 4 games due to injury. In those 8 games he ranked seventh on the team with 38 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss. He had 1.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries to go with 3 takeaways which led the team with 2 interceptions and also recovering a fumble.

Reeder’s season earned him Honorable Mention All-Big 12 – Linebacker/Defensive Newcomer of the Year – Coaches (2022) and on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He was also selected to participate in the hula bowl as he became the first Cyclone to play in the Hula Bowl since Tim Dobbins and Steve Paris in 2005.

In February Reeder was drafted by Houston Gamblers in the 2023 USFL Draft. He was taken in the 10th round with the 74th overall pick. However Colby did not participate in the USFL.

Then on May 9th Colby got his invite into the Saints rookie minicamp as an undrafted free agent.  Reeder was not signed after the camp so he still remains an NFL free agent. Colby is ranked as one of the top 35 linebacker free agents by Chad Reuter draft analyst from We will be watching and

hoping to see him get picked up by an NFL team by training camp in August. You can follow us on all social media outlets for updated info on Colbys NFL status and check back here for future articles.
