The Sussex Central Golden Knights travel to Abessinio Stadium for a Friday night clash with Salesianium.
Both squads enter the contest following losses in their last game.
Hodgson defeated the Golden Knights, 44-34, at home, providing Sussex Central with its first loss of the season. The Silver Eagles scored their season high in points behind the strong play of junior quarterback Kevin Browning. The Golden Knights received impressive contributions from their own QB, Josiah Cannon, throwing for over 70 yards a touchdown. Running back Will Harmon contributed over 150 yards on the ground for Sussex Central as well.
Sallies hasn’t played since September 19 when they traveled to Malvern Prep High School in Pennsylvania for the second of two straight games against out-of-state opponents. Sallies lost that game by three points, twelve days after they fell to LaSalle Prep, who are currently undefeated in the Philadelphia Catholic League. Salesianium is 1-0 against Delaware competition, beginning its season with a victory over Red Lion.
The two teams haven’t played in a regular-season matchup since 2022. Sussex Central won that meeting, 7-0, in a low-scoring defensive battle. Just last year, the two squads met in the DIAA semifinals. Sallies defeated the Golden Knights by 26 in that game to advance to the state championship game, where they ultimately fell to Middletown.
Delaware LIVE will provide coverage of the game tonight and follow up with a story on Saturday.
