MILFORD, Del. June 5, 2025 — Downtown Milford, Inc. has once again been recognized nationally, earning reaccreditation status from Main Street America for its continued excellence in downtown revitalization and economic development.
The Delaware made the announcement on the Main Street Program, operated by the Delaware Division of Small Business, during its quarterly meeting—held fittingly in Milford’s own Police Department Community Room on Thursday.
Milford was one of just four Main Street programs in Delaware to earn reaccreditation, joining Wilmington, Dover, and Rehoboth Beach in meeting the high standards set by Main Street America. This designation is the organization’s highest tier and recognizes communities that demonstrate exceptional performance in areas such as inclusive leadership, sustainable funding, strategic planning, and preservation-based economic development.
“Milford continues to shine as a model for community-driven downtown revitalization,” said Anastasia Jackson, Delaware on Main Street Coordinator. “The team at Downtown Milford, Inc. exemplifies what Main Street success looks like—engaged leadership, strategic investment, and a real commitment to preserving the heart of their community.”
Sade Truiett, the newly appointed Executive Director of Downtown Milford, Inc., called the recognition a powerful affirmation of the city’s long-standing efforts.
“This reaccreditation is more than just a designation—it’s a reflection of the years of dedication, passion, and investment that so many residents, volunteers, and small business owners have poured into downtown Milford,” Truiett said. “It’s an honor that belongs to the entire community.”
Reaccreditation highlights a proven track record: Main Street programs like Milford’s foster local investment, create jobs, support small businesses, and restore historic properties. In 2024, Delaware’s Main Street network collectively spurred over $270 million in reinvestment and supported the creation of more than 600 new jobs.
Downtown Milford, Inc. plays a central role in the city’s ongoing revitalization, helping to attract visitors, new businesses, and public-private partnerships to the historic downtown district.
