MILFORD, DE — Downtown Milford is gaining well-deserved recognition as a hub for creativity and culture, thanks in large part to the vision and energy of artist Marcia Reed. Her art space, Gallery 37, is the subject of a glowing feature in the latest issue of Coastal Style Magazine, where Reed is credited with transforming her corner of South Walnut Street into a “destination for artful living.”

But beyond the art itself, the story captures the spirit of a woman whose influence is helping shape Milford’s downtown revival.

A former New England art teacher with a 35-year career in studio instruction, Reed opened Gallery 37 in 2012 after moving to Milford with her husband. Her work is inspired by nature, emotion, and memory—often drawn from the scenic Mispillion River behind her home—and reflects a dynamic, intuitive process that she describes as “a conversation” between color, feeling, and form.

Yet it’s her role as a community anchor that truly sets her apart. Visitors frequently praise the gallery—and Reed herself—in glowing testimonials on platforms like Travelocity, noting not just the beauty of the art but the warmth of the experience. Many who visit Gallery 37 go on to explore the surrounding area, dining at local restaurants, browsing neighboring shops, and discovering other artistic venues nearby.

“People come in for the art, but they leave having discovered Milford,” Reed says. “The gallery has become part of the town’s identity—it’s not just about what’s on the walls, it’s aIMG 2123 scaledbout the experience of being here.” Her influence has helped fuel a broader momentum downtown, where creative entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and performers are finding a growing audience. Gallery 37 is located just steps from the 2nd Street Players theater and 10 S. Walnut, Milford’s new home for ice cream, music, and community events—creating a walkable, welcoming arts corridor in the heart of the city.

From her acclaimed piece Garden of Time to regular inclusion in exhibitions from Rehoboth to Easton, Marcia Reed is an artist of regional significance. But through Gallery 37, she’s also a local force, inviting residents and tourists alike to slow down, connect, and experience the art of living well in Milford.

As Coastal Style affirms, Gallery 37 isn’t just a gallery—it’s an invitation. And thanks to Reed’s vision, Milford is answering.  Read the article and share it with a friend!
