MILFORD – For caregivers balancing the demands of family, work, and the needs of aging loved ones, a new pharmacy in Milford is aiming to make life a little easier.
Genoa Healthcare celebrated the grand opening of its first Delaware location on Tuesday, cutting the ribbon at the Milford Wellness Village. Mayor Todd Culotta joined pharmacy staff and community members in welcoming Genoa to the growing health campus, calling the addition “one step closer to making Milford the capital of health care in Sussex County.”
A Focus on Families and Caregivers
Unlike traditional pharmacies, Genoa takes care of individuals while specializing in serving patients with long-term care and behavioral health needs, often working closely with caregivers, providers, and case managers. For busy parents or adult children looking after seniors, that means fewer trips, less confusion, and better coordination.
“Caregivers are juggling so much—appointments, medications, transportation,” said Melody Dauria, pharmacist at the Milford location. “We want to take some of that weight off. When you call during business hours, a member of our team, located right here in Milford, will answer. After hours, emergency support is always available.”
Services include personalized medication packaging, free delivery, and close collaboration with local doctors, nurses, and adult-day care programs. “It’s about making sure people don’t miss doses, don’t get overwhelmed, and don’t feel alone,” Dauria said.
Part of a Larger Wellness Vision
The new pharmacy joins a lineup of services at the Milford Wellness Village, a 264,000-square-foot health campus at 21 W. Clarke Ave. Designed as a walkable hub, the Village brings together primary care, rehabilitation, adult day programs, and medical equipment support all under one roof.
“With Genoa now part of the Village, families can do in one stop what might otherwise take three or four trips around town,” said Lon Kieffer, executive director of Milford Wellness Village. “That means less stress for caregivers, fewer opportunities for mistakes, and better outcomes for the people they love.”
Kieffer also spoke from personal experience, sharing that he recently became a Genoa customer. He praised pharmacist Melody Dauria and her team for guiding him through his own medication routine. “They personally helped me sort out which meds to take, at what time, and on which day of the week,” he told the crowd. “That level of service makes a huge difference—not just for me, but for every caregiver trying to manage complex care.”
National Reach, Local Touch
Founded 20 years ago, Genoa operates more than 750 pharmacies across 48 states. But the Milford location marks its first step into Delaware—and staff say the personal touch will remain front and center.
“This is about building relationships,” Kieffer added. “The Wellness Village was created to make life easier for caregivers and patients. Genoa strengthens that mission by making medication management simpler, safer, and more personal.”
The Genoa Healthcare pharmacy is located at 21 W. Clarke Ave., Milford, and is open weekdays until 5 p.m. Families and providers can reach the team directly at 302-930-9065.
