As part of their Annual Community Impact Day of Service, Dover Federal Credit Union team members will be at the Home of the Brave on Monday, October 14 to improve their playground area. Home of the Brave offers shelter and services to homeless veterans.
“This program was started post pandemic as a way to give back to the community and try to make a long term difference for others, especially during trying times,” Deb Jewell, Assistant Vice President of Marketing said. “This year, our Annual Community Impact Day of Service is volunteering our time and talents with non-profit organizations throughout the entire state that support the needs of our Veteran’s, the military and their families.”
Team members at Home of the Brave will be rebuilding the swing set and playground area, refurbishing picnic tables and horseshoe pits as well as landscaping and mulch. Jewell explained that his will enhance the experience of those who are staying in the shelters while also letting them know that people care, offering them a sense of hope.
“Dover Federal Credit Union believes in the philosophy of “People Helping People”. We put our words into action and our commitment to the community that we serve as a top priority of our business model,” Jewell said. “When we can contribute to sustainability of others and do work to support and improve their well-being, we are reflecting who we are as a company and what each of our team members genuinely believes in.”
There are over 140 team members providing volunteer services at different locations throughout the state that focus on serving the military and veterans. This includes shelters, Dover Air Force Base, food banks as well as Habitat for Humanity.
“It is our belief that many hands mean light work,” Jewell said.
