House of David served 1,356 community meals food pantry support for 147 families and helped 76 families through its clothing closet!
MILFORD, Del. — House of David Milford DE Inc. says it expanded its reach across Sussex and Kent counties in 2025, providing meals, clothing, food assistance and housing support to hundreds of residents facing hardship.
The nonprofit’s newly released 2025 Impact Report outlines a year of growth for the Milford-based organization, including the launch of its on-site emergency housing program and the expansion of community outreach efforts.
According to the report, House of David served 1,356 community meals during the year, provided food pantry support to 147 families and helped 76 families through its clothing closet. The organization also connected 151 individuals to housing, health, employment and recovery resources.
One of the year’s most significant milestones came in April, when House of David welcomed its first resident into its new emergency housing program. By the end of 2025, four residents had received housing stabilization support, with two moving on to independent housing, according to the report.
“Our mission is rooted in restoring dignity and creating real pathways to stability for individuals and families experiencing hardship,” Executive Director Dr. David A. Shockley Jr. said in a statement. “This report reflects the power of community collaboration. Every meal served, every referral made, and every life stabilized represents the compassion and commitment of our volunteers, donors and partners working together to strengthen our region.”
The organization said its annual outreach efforts included community meals and special programs tied to Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and back-to-school season, serving hundreds of residents throughout the year.
In addition to basic needs support, House of David also launched the House of David Arts Academy in 2025, offering free music education opportunities for youth from economically challenged households in the Milford area.
The report said the nonprofit ended the year with a positive financial balance while continuing to invest in its facility and expand services tied to emergency housing and stabilization.
Looking ahead, House of David plans to grow its emergency housing capacity in 2026, add more community meal services, relaunch youth arts programming and create a mentorship initiative aimed at young men ages 5 to 25.
The organization continues to partner with nonprofits, government agencies, faith-based groups and businesses across the region as it works to strengthen support systems for vulnerable residents in Sussex and Kent counties.
House of David Milford DE Inc. describes its mission as providing “quality assistance without discrimination” to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship.
