FELTON, Del. — A 33-year-old Dover man was killed Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle collision on Canterbury Road near Roesville Road, according to Delaware State Police.
The incident occurred around 9:01 a.m. when the man, driving a Ford Fusion southbound on Canterbury Road at a high rate of speed, collided with the rear of a northbound Toyota Camry that was attempting to turn left onto Roesville Road.The impact caused the Fusion to veer off the east side of Canterbury Road before re-entering the roadway and striking a Mazda CX-5 traveling northbound behind the Camry. The Mazda then entered a drainage ditch and rolled onto its side.
The driver of the Fusion, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The 28-year-old Felton man driving the Mazda sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The 70-year-old Felton woman operating the Camry was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
