More than 50 attendees gathered March 4 for the inaugural “Bubbles and Bags” event supporting the Go Red for Women campaign, raising $5,000 for heart health initiatives in Delaware.
Hosted by the American Heart Association at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, the event featured a social hour, networking opportunities and a designer handbag auction. Organizers said the event aimed to bring together women from across the state while raising awareness and funds for women’s cardiovascular health.
The evening served as an early fundraising effort for the statewide Go Red for Women initiative, which focuses on educating women about heart disease and stroke risk.
“Bubbles and Bags was a beautiful reminder of what happens when women come together with purpose,” said Ashley Foster, senior vice president and chief people officer at Beebe Healthcare and chair of the 2026 Delaware Go Red for Women campaign. “From the energy in the room to the generosity shown throughout the evening, our community showed up in a powerful way to support the Go Red for Women movement. Every bid placed and every connection made helps us move closer to a future free of heart disease and stroke for women right here in Delaware.”
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease remains the leading cause of death among women, though many remain unaware of their personal risk. Through the Go Red for Women campaign, the organization works to increase awareness of cardiovascular health and encourage preventive care and lifestyle changes.
Organizers said the event’s success helps build momentum for the upcoming Delaware Go Red for Women Experience, scheduled for May 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.
The May event is expected to focus on education, networking and wellness resources aimed at helping women better understand and manage their heart health.
