Kent-Sussex Industries (KSI) announced this week that they have received Commission on Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation for the next three years. KSI has received this accreditation since 1982.
“CARF surveyors spent two days at KSI reviewing KSI practices, programs and procedures, talking with staff and interacting with the community about KSI’s quality services,” Alicia Hollis, Director of Community Relations, said. “The staff at KSI works year round to ensure quality standards are being met. CARF surveyors listed KSI’s person-centered programming as just one of the organization’s strengths. They also shared that participants, families, guardians, funders, referral sources and other stakeholders expressed high levels of satisfaction with and appreciation for KSI and their wonderful staff.”
CARF is an international non-profit health and human services accrediting agency that covers services for aging, behavioral health, medical rehabilitation, employment and community services. The organization is similar to the Joint Commission (JCAHO) used to accredit hospitals. CARF sets a rigorous standard and promotes best practices for organizations that provide health and human services.
CARF accreditation is a voluntary process which means KSI must go the extra steps to earn accreditation. In addition, accreditation is much more rigorous than state licensing and indicates KSI has met the rigorous standards set by CARF to provide their clients with outstanding service.
KSI is a not-for-profit agency that provides vocational training, employment, community integration, transportation, day habilitation, life enrichment and nutritional services to individuals with disabilities throughout Kent and Sussex County. They are committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in or denied benefits based on race, color, or national origin.
