Lewes planning 5th annual Juneteenth celebration at George H.P. Smith Park

Lewes African American Heritage Commission and the City of Lewes will host the city’s 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 27, at George H.P. Smith Park in Lewes.
The community event is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature live music, storytelling, spoken word performances, vendors, food trucks, dancers, a children’s activity area and educational history displays.
Organizers describe the event as a family-friendly celebration honoring Juneteenth and African American heritage while bringing the community together through entertainment, culture and education.
The event will be held at George H.P. Smith Park at the corner of Johnson and DuPont avenues in Lewes. In the event of inclement weather, activities will move to Frederick D. Thomas Middle School on Sussex Drive.
According to event organizers, there is no entry fee or vendor fee for participants, though food truck space is limited. Donations and sponsorships are also being accepted to support the event.
