A 74-year-old Lewes woman is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win after purchasing a Powerball ticket with the Power Play option at a Rehoboth Beach retailer.
The winning ticket was sold at Super G #387 on Lighthouse Plaza Boulevard, and the prize was claimed March 17 at Delaware Lottery headquarters.
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, matched four numbers plus the Powerball in the March 16 drawing and used the Power Play feature to double her prize. The winning numbers were 07, 10, 20, 47 and 52, with Powerball 20 and a 2X multiplier.
A retired Delaware native, the woman said she has been playing the lottery for about nine years without using a specific strategy, opting instead to play casually for a chance to win.
She said she discovered the win by checking the numbers online and was “ecstatic” after realizing she matched the winning combination. The first person she shared the news with was her husband, adding she has not yet decided how she will spend the prize.
“We’re thrilled for this winner and excited to celebrate this significant Powerball® prize,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “Wins like this are always exciting moments, and we encourage all players to enjoy the experience while continuing to play responsibly.”
Powerball drawings are held three times a week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights — with tickets sold at retailers across the state. The optional Power Play feature allows players to multiply non-jackpot winnings depending on the multiplier drawn.
