MILFORD, Del. (June 18, 2025) — As the countdown continues to Friday’s 69th annual Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game, Milford High School is proudly represented both on and off the field. The Gold Team, featuring top high school players from across Southern Delaware, is deep into practice this week at the University of Delaware—and tonight, fans will have a chance to catch a sneak peek at a special scrimmage in Milford.
The Gold Team will host a public scrimmage tonight at 5:00 p.m. at Milford High School, located at 1019 N. Walnut Street. Admission is free, and the community is encouraged to come support some of the state’s finest athletes.
Leading the Gold Team this year is Milford’s own Head Coach Jed Bell, a respected name in Delaware football. Bell previously led Woodbridge High School to a state championship appearance in his first year at the helm and later brought his talents to Milford. Though he now holds an administrative role within the district, Bell remains a committed mentor and coach for the Blue-Gold program.
Milford High School senior Amare Matthews, a standout defensive end, will wear #23 for the Gold Team. He is joined by Sussex Tech’s Kyle Thompson, a defensive back wearing #16, rounding out a roster of about 40 elite players from across the southern region.
Beyond the field, Milford’s Blue-Gold Committee is actively involved in game week festivities. The group includes Junior and Senior Ambassadors, cheerleaders, band members, and football players—each selected by staff for their leadership, school spirit, and community engagement. Their work supports the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens (DFRC), which raises awareness and funds for programs benefiting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Tonight’s scrimmage is more than just a practice game in preparation for another High School All-Star game—it’s a celebration of student talent, community pride, and inclusion. Come cheer on your hometown stars as they prepare to represent Milford in one of Delaware’s most meaningful sports traditions.
