The 2024 Milford Holiday Stroll saw over 5,000 people in the downtown area

Despite the bitter cold weather, Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI)’s 19th annual Holiday Stroll, held Saturday, December 7, brought over 5,000 people to the downtown area where they enjoyed a Christmas market, a live nativity, specials in all downtown businesses and fun activities for young and old. For many families, the Holiday Stroll has become a tradition, something that makes chairperson Sonja Koeller very happy.

“This is such a fun event to plan and make happen,” Koeller said. “I love seeing the faces of children and adults as they walk down Walnut Street taking in all the beautiful sights. It really has become part of Milford.”

The Farmer’s Market area was filled with Christmas craft vendors selling many different types of items. Shoppers could mark gifts off their Christmas list by purchasing candles, cooking supplies, crocheted hats and more.

“We loved it! Our little town all lit up reminds me of a Hallmark movie,” Lynn Stinchcomb Sanders said. “The live nativity and choir are our favorites.”

Entertainment for the evening included an historic dance demonstration by the First State Heritage Club, tumbling by Bayside Gymnastics and choir singers. DMI also held a Holiday Window Decorating Contest with downtown businesses vying for a trophy that will be passed around from year to year.

“I would like to thank everyone who voted for my window display,” Marcia Reed, owner of Gallery 37, said. “I will display my trophy proudly this year!”

Some who attended this year’s celebration commented that they had been unable to attend for a few years but were glad they could make it for the 19th.

“I had not been able to attend for several years,” Sherri Paquette Betts said. “I went this year and was so impressed. I love our small community and all it has to offer.”

DMI is already planning the 2025 event. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the DMI Office via email or by calling 302-839-1180.
