MILFORD, Del. — A $10,000 Mega Millions prize from a ticket sold in Milford remains unclaimed and is set to expire later this month, according to Delaware Lottery officials.

The winning ticket, purchased at the Wawa convenience store at Wawa #851 in Milford, matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball in the Aug. 30, 2024 drawing. Players have exactly one year from the date of the drawing to claim prizes in Delaware, meaning the deadline is Aug. 30, 2025.

The winning numbers:  10, 17, 20, 24, 54, and the Mega Ball 08.  Megaplier was 4x.

If the ticket is not claimed by that date, the winnings will not go into the winner’s pocket — instead, the unclaimed funds are returned to the state. Under Delaware Lottery policy, unclaimed prize money is transferred into the state’s General Fund, where it can be used to support public services such as education, public safety, and health programs.

Lottery officials are urging anyone who purchased a Mega Millions ticket in Milford last August to check their numbers carefully. “It’s not unusual for players to misplace a ticket or forget to check the winning numbers, but this is a life-changing sum for many people,” a Delaware Lottery spokesperson said. “We’d hate to see it go unclaimed.”

Winners are advised to sign the back of the ticket immediately to establish ownership, then visit a Delaware Lottery retailer or the main lottery office in Dover to begin the claim process.

If claimed, the $10,000 prize would be paid in a lump sum. If unclaimed, it will quietly vanish into state coffers at midnight on the deadline — a reminder that in the lottery, sometimes the biggest loss isn’t losing the game, but failing to realize you’ve already won.
