MILFORD — Downtown Milford sparkled under perfect skies Saturday as thousands of visitors packed Walnut Street, Washington Street and the Mispillion Riverwalk for the 2025 Milford Riverwalk Freedom Festival. The all-day celebration of music, food, and community spirit delivered on every promise—and then some.
“This is one of Milford’s best days of the year!” said Pat Abel, board president of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford. “Families came from all over the state, the kids’ area was buzzing all day, and vendors were thrilled with the turnout. You gotta love this town”
The Duck Dash drew a cheering throng to the river as more than 800 numbered rubber ducks bobbed downstream in the beloved fundraiser. The United Way announced the winning racers as Duck 44 ($500 first prize), Duck 196 ($250 second prize), and Duck 14 ($100 third prize). The official results can be found on Duck 2025 : Milford United Way
Live music filled Bicentennial Park all afternoon, culminating in a rousing set by Plead the 5th Band before a fireworks finale lit up the night sky. Spectators lined the Riverwalk and Memorial Park for the display, which capped a day that also featured a classic car show, pet parade, paddleboat rides, and a family-friendly beer garden. Vendors reported brisk sales from morning through evening.
“I’m so proud of our Chamber’s team, the City of Milford staff, our many volunteers, and the sponsors who all worked tirelessly to make this event a success,” said Jo Schmeiser, the Chamber’s executive director. “It truly takes a community effort to pull off a festival of this size, and their dedication made this year’s celebration one of the best yet.”
