Sussex Tech Story

Sussex Tech High School students signing letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college are Kyle Thompson, left, and Kagan Rogers

Sussex Technical High School is celebrating the accomplishments of two of its standout student-athletes who officially signed Letters of Intent on April 7, 2025, to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level.

Senior Kagan Rogers will attend Delaware Technical Community College, where he will compete in cross country and pursue a degree in respiratory therapy. A student in the school’s Nurses Assisting Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program, Rogers has proven himself both in the classroom and on the track. A four-year varsity cross country and track and field athlete, he has become a dedicated leader, known for motivating teammates and anchoring the boys’ 4×800 relay team. Outside of athletics, Rogers works as a pharmaceutical technician at Ivira Pharmacy and has maintained an impressive 4.0 GPA throughout high school.

Joining Rogers in celebrating future plans is senior Kyle Thompson, who signed to play football at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia. A student in Sussex Tech’s Business, Finance, and Marketing (BFM) CTE program, Thompson plans to study civil engineering. Despite only joining the football team as a junior, Thompson quickly became one of its most dynamic players. In just two seasons, he earned All-Conference honors at three different positions—wide receiver, running back, and defensive back. His senior year alone, Thompson rushed for 1,487 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. Off the field, he has excelled academically, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and earning a spot in both the football and basketball Blue-Gold All-Star games, where he will represent Sussex Tech with pride.

Sussex Technical High School, a public school serving students across Sussex County, prepares learners for success in the workforce, higher education, and the military through its robust academic and career-technical programs. The school community proudly celebrates the achievements of these two exceptional athletes as they take the next step in their journeys.
