Volunteers are being invited to participate in the 2026 Coastal Delaware Community Clean Up, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon in the Quiet Resorts area.
The annual event is organized by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Keep Delaware Beautiful and is held in recognition of Earth Day. Individuals and groups can participate by adopting and cleaning a section of roadway in coastal Sussex County.
Participants can register online through 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. Volunteers may choose from four designated cleanup locations, serve where help is most needed, or select their own cleanup area. All volunteers must check in at an assigned hub location before beginning.
The Inland Bays Garden Center will serve as the central hub, where registered participants will check in, pick up cleanup supplies and dispose of collected trash. Walk-up registrations will also be accepted at the site before 11 a.m., according to organizers.
Pre-registered volunteers will receive additional details about check-in and location assignments during the week of the event.
Organizers said last year’s cleanup drew more than 40 volunteers who collected about 800 pounds of trash despite unfavorable weather conditions.
Those with questions about the event can contact the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce at 302-539-2100 or info@thequietresorts.com. Opportunities are also available for cleaning area sponsors and volunteer liaisons.
