As the holidays approach, the Milford Public Library has many fun events planned that are sure to keep all the members of your family entertained. The month begins with a matinee of the “Miracle on 34th Street, according to Carolyn Tabor, Program Director.”
“The matinee of “Miracle on 34th Street,” which is a Christmas classic, will be presented December 2 at 2 PM in the Lion’s Room,” Tabor said. “This movie has been a classic for generations and we are excited to bring it to Milford this holiday season.”
The library will celebrate Delaware Day with a presentation by members of the Milford Museum on Delaware’s own founding father, Caesar Rodney. “Caesar Rodney: How a Delaware Farmer Saved Independence” will be presented on December 7 at 2:00 PM. The program will highlight the life and accomplishments of Rodney. There will also be trivia and prizes during this event. The fun continues on December 8 with “Crafter Afternoon with Alice” where those who attend will create a fun snowman using a Coffeemate creamer container with the red top. Those who wish to participate are asked to bring their own container.
“On December 9, Mike Rasmussen, owner and head distiller of Painted Stave Distilling, will provide details on Spirits and Distilling in Delaware,” Tabor said. “Painted Stave is an award-winning craft distillery that has been creating unique flavors of alcohol for over 10 years. Mike will not only provide us with details on the history of distilling in Delaware, he will teach you how to make the perfect classic Old Fashioned. Painted Stave spirits and cocktails will be available and this is a 21 and older event.”
Throughout the month of December, the library will present it Christmas Tree Extravanganza. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to the Dematrakis family as Kasey Dematakis continues fighting against breast cancer. The library will also be open on Saturday, December 3 for the Holiday Stroll and Christmas Market.
