On Monday, October 14, Katrina White was sworn in as the new City Clerk for Milford. White replaces long-serving clerk Terri Hudson who retired earlier this year. White has served as the Deputy City Clerk for several years.
“I’ve been with the city since December 2013, but my connection to Milford goes back much further,” White said. “I initially worked at the Milford Police Department from 1995 to 2001, starting as a dispatcher and later transitioning to the role of PD Records Clerk before relocating to Atlanta, Georgia. I returned to Milford in 2013, bringing my combined time with the city to a total of approximately 17 years.”
White grew up in Lewes and graduate from Cape Henlopen High School. She is the mother of four and grandmother to six. She enjoys spending time with her family and in her spare time, enjoys reading, decorating, planting flowers and trying new restaurants.
“When I returned to Delaware, I wanted to return to the City of Milford and when the opportunity arose, I knew it aligned with the career goals and vision I had for my future,” White said. “I figured out that I have a deep passion for the municipal clerk profession. The work is both fulfilling and rewarding, and I enjoy what I am doing.”
Currently, White serves as the Delaware Municipal. Clerks Association (DCMA) Vice President and will serve as DMCA President in June 2026 until 2028. She has been a member since 2013. She has been a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) since 2014 and a member of Delaware Women Leading Government since 2021.
“I have dedicated myself to professional development and have invested a significant amount of time and effort in obtaining my certifications as clerk,” White said. “In 2021, I received the Certified Municipal Clerks (CMC) Certification and building on that, I was able to attain the highest possible designation for municipal clerk in 2023, the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) certification.”
The best part of her job is the coworkers White is with each day.
“We all work together, all departments. I love seeing it all come together,” White said. “It is the City of Milford employees that keep this city running every day and I have a great appreciation for that. That is why I enjoy being a part of the Employee Rewards and Recognition Committee to help recognize and show appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication.”
As for goals she has set for herself, White plans to begin working toward the Education PLUS Program (EPP) through the IIMC in2025.
“I would like to expand my knowledge and skills by becoming a Registered Parliamentarian,” White said. “In the future, I would like to represent Region II on the IIMC Board of Directors. I am committed to ongoing professional development and will continue to actively participate in clerk training programs.”
