DAGSBORO — The Sussex County Land Trust (SCLT) will mark a major milestone this fall, kicking off its 25th anniversary with a community celebration at the Delaware Botanic Gardens.
The event, titled “25 Years of Preserving Sussex: Celebrating Our Roots, Growing Our Future,” will take place Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the recently opened Annette Pennoni Meadow Pavilion.
Founded in 2000, SCLT is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving open space, protecting natural resources, and enhancing quality of life in Sussex County. The anniversary event aims to honor the group’s conservation work over the past two and a half decades while also setting the tone for its future efforts.
The evening will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, live music, and opportunities for networking among community members, partners, and supporters of land preservation.
Celebrating 25 Years of Land Preservation in Sussex County
The Sussex County Land Trust has played a key role in protecting open space across the region since its founding. The upcoming event serves not only as a celebration of that work but also as a platform to raise awareness and support for future conservation initiatives.
Dogfish Dash Raises $109,000 for Conservation
The anniversary celebration comes on the heels of a successful 2025 Dogfish Dash, where SCLT served as the nonprofit beneficiary. The race raised $109,000 to support land preservation in Sussex County, with contributions from Dogfish Head, sponsors, volunteers, and hundreds of race participants.
Preserving Sussex County for Future Generations
“This milestone is not only a celebration of what we’ve accomplished but also a call to action for the future,” said Sara Bluhm, Executive Director of the Sussex County Land Trust. “Together with our community, we’re committed to preserving open space, protecting natural resources, and ensuring that Sussex County remains a beautiful place to live, work, and play for generations to come.”
