Sussex County Habitat for Humanity raised more than $30,000 for affordable housing initiatives during the 2026 Walt Jones Memorial Golf Outing held May 15 at Midway Par 3 in Lewes.

Sponsored by Poore’s Propane, the event brought together more than 100 golfers for morning and afternoon sessions that included games, prizes and fundraising activities. Proceeds from the outing will support affordable homeownership projects throughout Sussex County, including current builds in Milford, Seaford and Laurel.

The annual event honors longtime Habitat supporter Walt Jones and is held at the Lewes golf course now owned and operated by Jones’ daughter and son-in-law.

“We’re extremely grateful to Barbara and Mark Moore for their partnership in making this event a major fundraiser for affordable housing efforts,” said Kevin Gilmore, CEO of Sussex County Habitat for Humanity. “Our golfers and community continue to show up to support Habitat’s mission, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day on the greens.”

Additional sponsors included Pennoni, Tidemark Federal Credit Union, State Farm and several other local businesses and organizations.

“Sussex County Habitat for Humanity could not operate without the support and generosity of our great community partners,” Gilmore said. “Whether someone’s swinging a club or swinging a hammer, it’s all about ensuring our neighbors have a safe and decent place to call home.”
