MILFORD, Del. — Marianina Pletcher has been elected to the Milford City Council, securing a two-year term after finishing first in a three-candidate race for Ward 2 in the city’s April 25 municipal election.

The election coincided with Milford’s annual Bug & Bud Festival on Saturday, drawing voters to the polls during one of the city’s largest community events. Results were officially certified on Monday and posted on the City of Milford’s website.

According to the certified results, Pletcher received 72 votes, ahead of Kimberly Wills with 31 votes and Desiray Anderson with 19. Two candidates who had initially filed for the race — Ronald Mescola and Michael Price Sr. — withdrew before Election Day.

The Ward 2 contest marked the only competitive race on the ballot this year, as all other council seats were uncontested. Incumbent Lori Connor did not seek reelection, leaving the seat open.

Pletcher will represent Ward 2 alongside current councilmember Nadia Zychal, who was not up for election this cycle. She is scheduled to be sworn in during the city’s annual organizational meeting on May 4.

Voting took place at the city’s Public Works Building on Vickers Drive, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eligibility was limited to registered Ward 2 residents and qualifying nonresident property owners.

She is listed as a nonpartisan candidate, and no candidate survey or biography was submitted through Ballotpedia.

Despite the low turnout typical of municipal races, the Ward 2 election provided the only opportunity this cycle for Milford voters to weigh in on contested representation, highlighting the importance of local participation in city governance.
