Beebe Healthcare is pleased to welcome Marie-France McIntee, DO, MPH, and Kari Shearman, FNCP-C, to its growing team of specialty providers. Both are palliative care providers who practice at Beebe Palliative Care Long Neck, the Tunnell Cancer Center, and the South Coastal Cancer Center.

Dr. McIntee treats adults who have been diagnosed with serious illnesses (cancer, heart, lung, kidney or neurological disease). She works with her patients, their families, and their specialists to improve their quality of life.

Dr. McIntee earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then went on to complete her osteopathic internship at Crozer Keystone Health System, along with her family medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital, both in Pennsylvania. Dr. McIntee completed her medical training with a Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. McIntee is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine, Aerospace Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Prior to joining Beebe, Dr. McIntee served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force, rising through ranks and responsibilities before ending her Air Force career as the Chief of Aerospace and Operational Medicine at the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency. She began her medical career as a family physician at Hartsville Medical Practice in Warrington, Pennsylvania.

“I have had a lifetime interest in palliative medicine, and I am thrilled that the completion of my fellowship training aligned with the expansion of Beebe’s Palliative Medicine Program,” said Dr. McIntee.

As a Palliative Care Family Nurse Practitioner, Shearman works to guide patients as they are making the critical transition out of the acute care setting. With a goal to develop patient and family-centered plans for care to optimize quality of life, she assists with management of chronic diseases and serves as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical care providers. She is committed to the delivery of care that aligns with the patient’s medical needs, health goals, and personal values.

Shearman is a graduate of Wilmington University, where she earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also earned an associate degree in nursing from Delaware Technical & Community College and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps.

Prior to joining Beebe Healthcare, Shearman worked at Fresenius Medical Care, serving patients in an outpatient hemodialysis clinic. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Home Health Nurse and Case Manager for both Millenium Home Care and Amedisys Home Health, and as an Emergency Department Nurse at Atlantic General Hospital.

“I am a native of Sussex County and I am so grateful for the opportunity to provide impactful healthcare within the community I am passionate about and call home,” said Shearman.
