The next Milford Conversation will focus on “Communication: How to Get the Word Out Before it Happens.” In other words, the informal gathering will discuss ways to promote events, festivals and concerts in the Milford area in order to grow attendance. The program will be held Friday, November 15 at 8:30 AM.
“Our special speaker will be Jim Duffy, a noted author about all things on Delmarva,” John Huntzinger, coordinator of the Milford Conversation, said. “What many don’t realize is that he puts out a wonderful monthly newsletter of events all over the peninsula compiled from a wide network of sources.”
Huntzinger hopes that members of the public with experience in social media, especially those who administer Milford Facebook groups will attend so that they can provide insight into how best to utilize them. Representatives of Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI) will also be on hand providing details on their Milford Community Calendar that is free to use.
“Communicating upcoming events needs to include traditional media such as newspapers and television,” Huntzinger said. “While communications may seem to be near instantaneous today, it requires people and time to reach its intended audience. The goal is to let people know what is happening before it is history.”
The Milford Conversation takes place at the First Presbyterian Church of Milford, 101 South Walnut Street, Milford. It is an informal gathering of non-profit leaders, business owners and interested residents who discuss matters relating to Milford and the surrounding area. Parking is available in the city lot behind the church and entry to the meeting is through the back door with the handicap entrance sign. Walk through the kitchen and turn right to get to the library.
Questions can be sent to Huntzinger via email.
