KSI Hires Dr. Kristina Failing as Director of Mission Advancement

Kent-Sussex Industries, Inc. (KSI), a leading nonprofit supporting individuals with disabilities, has announced the appointment of Dr. Kristina Failing as its new Director of Mission Advancement. A seasoned educator and advocate for inclusive practices, Dr. Failing brings over two decades of public education experience to her new role, where she will work to strengthen admissions and enhance community engagement for the organization.

Dr. Failing’s professional journey began in 1999 as a special educator in the Capital School District. Over the years, she advanced into administrative roles with the John S. Charlton Program and F. Neil Postlethwait Middle School, ultimately becoming Supervisor of Special Education for the Brandywine School District. Her dedication to fostering inclusion and increasing opportunities for students with varied abilities has earned her numerous accolades, including the 2020 Delaware State Administrator of the Year and the 2022 Delaware Secondary Principal of the Year.

Known to many as “Kris,” Dr. Failing has also served as an adjunct professor for Wilmington University’s doctoral program and currently teaches American Sign Language at Delaware State University. Her extensive work with Special Olympics Delaware and her leadership in inclusive student programming highlight a career deeply aligned with KSI’s mission to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their best lives.

KSI provides vocational training, life skills programs, employment opportunities, and other essential services to individuals with disabilities in Kent and Sussex Counties. Through initiatives like Pre-Vocational training and Life Enrichment programs, KSI supports its participants in building independence, confidence, and connections.
