Delaware State Police have arrested 36-year-old Joshua Chavez of Townsend, Delaware, for burglarizing a Smyrna residence Friday night.
On July 21, 2023, at approximately 6:22 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on the 1200 block of Alabam Road, Smyrna, for a burglary. Troopers arrived at the residence and observed a man, identified as Joshua Chavez, attempting to enter the garage. Troopers discovered Chavez was attempting to break into a home to confront a 32-year-old man who was not home at the time. No one was injured.
Chavez was taken into custody and taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Burglary Second Degree (Felony)
- Possession of Burglar Tools (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief
Chavez was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $8,500 secured bond.
