State Police Arrest Two Men for Prescription Fraud

Yesterday the Delaware State Police arrested 23-year-old Micah Lee of Silver Spring, Maryland and 21-year-old Bashir Abukar of Bowie, Maryland after they attempted to fraudulently obtain prescription medication from a Selbyville pharmacy. Both men were apprehended following a vehicle pursuit.

On May 28, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a trooper responded to the CVS pharmacy located at 36252 Lighthouse Road regarding a man who was attempting to pick up a forged prescription. The pharmacist contacted the State Police when it was discovered that a prescription for Oxycodone pills had been filled using eScript software that had been stolen from a doctor’s office in New Jersey. The trooper arrived and saw Micah Lee in the store, who was the man picking up the prescription. The trooper attempted to contact Lee, but Lee ran out of the building and got into a white Dodge Charger being driven by Bashir Abukar. Abukar and Lee then fled from the area at a high rate of speed, and the trooper pursued them as they headed into the Frankford area on Zion Church Road. The Charger struck a ditch and became disabled on Bayard Road, and both Abukar and Lee were taken into custody without further incident.

Abukar and Lee were taken to Troop 4 and charged with the following crimes:

Micah Lee:

Possession of Instruments Facilitating Identity Theft (Felony)
Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud or Forgery (Felony)
Forgery 2nd Degree (Felony)
Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
Resisting Arrest

Lee was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was released on $3,000 unsecured bond.

Bashir Abukar:

Possession of Instruments Facilitating Identity Theft (Felony)
Attempting to Obtain a Controlled Substance by Fraud or Forgery (Felony)
Forgery 2nd Degree (Felony)
Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
Numerous traffic violations

Abukar was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was released on his own recognizance.

Dover Police celebrates graduation of 2025 Municipal Police Academy class
The Dover Police Department proudly announced this week the graduation of the 2025 Municipal Police Academy. 19 recruits from 12 police agencies across Delaware completed the 21-week training program, culminating in a graduation ceremony at Dover Middle School Campus Auditorium. READ: Sussex Conservation District honors 2025 conservation stewardship awardees The ceremony was attended by key figures in law enforcement, including Chief Deputy Attorney General Dan Logan, Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen, and City of Dover Police Chief Thomas Johnson Jr. These distinguished speakers celebrated the recruits’ hard work and dedication throughout their extensive training. During the event, several recruits were honored for exceptional performances in various aspects of police training. Chase Morris of the South Bethany Police Department was awarded the Academic Achievement Award for achieving the highest academic average in the class, demonstrating excellent understanding of course content. Adam Ur from the Dewey Beach Police Department received the Top Shot Award for showing the best marksmanship and firearms safety throughout both day and night firearms training sessions. Isaiah Brown of the Lewes Police Department won the Physical Fitness Award for exhibiting outstanding physical fitness, strength, and endurance during the academy’s rigorous physical training. Sean Holton of the Lewes Police Department was the recipient of the Francis T. Schneible Resiliency Award, named in honor of a late officer who overcame severe injuries to continue his law enforcement career. Holton’s determination and resilience throughout the academy mirrored the strength displayed by Francis Schneible, who served with the Dover Police Department and later the Delaware State Police. Lucas Hudson of the Lewes Police Department, earned the Corporal Thomas Hannon Top Recruit Award, named after a former Dover officer who exemplified dedication and leadership. Hudson was recognized for his exceptional effort and leadership during the academy, offering assistance to classmates and demonstrating a strong work ethic. The graduating class included recruits from various law enforcement agencies, demonstrating the strength of the collaborative effort in police training across the state. Graduates include officers from Dover, Dagsboro, Delaware River and Bay Authority, Delaware State University, Dewey Beach, Laurel, Lewes, Milford, Milton, Millsboro, Seaford, and South Bethany police departments. Police seek public’s help in identifying woman found in Christina River
WILMINGTON– Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman whose remains were discovered along the Christina River earlier this month. According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block of East 7th Street on March 4 at approximately 5:59 p.m. after receiving a report of a deceased person. Upon arrival, officers found the decomposed remains of an unidentified individual along the riverbank. The remains were handed over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences for further examination. An autopsy determined that the victim was a white female, believed to be between 25-35 years old. Investigators suspect she may have been in the river since December. While there were no immediate signs of foul play, officials have not yet determined her cause of death. In an effort to identify the woman, police have released images of two tattoos found on her body. They are urging anyone who may recognize the tattoos or have information about the victim’s identity to come forward. Police search for suspect in road rage attack on North Dupont Highway
NEW CASTLE-Delaware State Police are investigating an assault that occurred last week as a result of a road rage incident on North Dupont Highway in New Castle. The incident took place last Tuesday on March 11, at approximately 3:31 p.m. when troopers responded to a report of an assault near Market Place. According to the initial investigation, a Subaru Forester and a dark-colored pickup truck were involved in a road rage altercation while traveling on North Dupont Highway. When the Subaru stopped behind the pickup truck in the left-turn lane, the driver of the pickup exited his vehicle, armed himself with an unidentified metal tool, and approached the Subaru. The suspect then shouted at the victim before striking the Subaru’s front driver-side window, shattering the glass. The suspect also struck the victim’s face with the tool before fleeing northbound on North Dupont Highway. The victim, a 59-year-old man from New Castle, was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Authorities describe the suspect as an older white male. No further details about the suspect or the vehicle are available at this time.
