State Police Investigating Single Vehicle Fatal Crash in Georgetown

Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred early Sunday morning.

On November 26, 2023, at approximately 1:17 a.m., a white Hyundai Sante Fe was traveling eastbound on Lewes-Georgetown Highway, east of Fawn Lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the south edge of the roadway and collided with a tree before catching fire. The driver, a 26-year-old male from Georgetown, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours to investigate the crash and remove any obstructions from the roadway.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Senior Corporal J.
